U.S.S. Hazard Inc. was formed by a group of successful south Omaha businessmen in the early 1970s. A majority of the investors were Navy veterans and created Freedom Park, along with Sandpiper Cove Marina and The Anchor Inn. The investors purchased the U.S.S. Harzard ship from a U.S. Navy surplus in Orange, Texas. The ship was restored while being pushed by a barge up the Missouri River. Today the ship rests landlocked at Omaha’s Freedom Park.
